Here’s the good news: 43% of Americans are extremely happy in their life right now; 41% of Americans say they definitely love their life; and 47% of Americans are truly in love.
Cue the lilting music and butterflies and rainbows.
But…. because every story has a “but”… here’s the aluminum lining on the cloud:
- None of these figures reflect a majority of our U.S. population. So most people are not completely and totally happy or loving their life or in love.
- Only 63% of married Americans say they are in love. That means nearly 4 in 10 are not.
- Though note, married Americans are happier than single Americans.
- Those under 40 and over 64 are most likely to say they are happy and loving their lives. So… what happens in those middle years?
- The much talked about “mid-life” crisis period between ages 40 – 49 seems alive and well for both men and women, though more for men.
According to the data, despite that our lives could be better and we could be happier, we don’t seem to be doing much to bring about the rainbows. Only 27% of us say we are really living our lives to the fullest every day. So what’s standing in the way – time, money, career, kids? Tell me…
